Friday morning (June 30) My newly aquired Ram 4x4 was great in the snow, but I got stuck pretty bad in the mud while prepping the trails for the BBQ. I had explained to Jason how terrible my Ram was offroad, but I made a few improvements to it and apparently I failed to mention them to him. :-) While I'm in the barn preparing the trail prepping equipment, Jason videotapes my Ram and comments on this situation. :-) |
Friday evening (June 30) This is the one and only time this weekend that the Adam Blaster gets stuck. :-) This is the same place that my (stock) Ram got stuck. This video shot by Norah shows our recovery efforts. It actually wasn't too bad except that the mud didn't want to release its death grip on my boots!! Its fairly safe to say that it was some sticky slop! If you let your speed drop, you could be in trouble. Only problem is that this is a curve, and you have to thread your way between a stump and a rather large pine while you're doing this, so you don't want to go too fast. No sweat. :-) |

Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 After being pulled back onto solid ground, Jason Mooberry has another go at the infamous "First Hundred Yards" |
Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 After watching a bunch of people in front of him get stuck, the Adam Blaster decides to go for broke, and impresses everyone with his run. (You sure you haven't done this before Adam??) :-) |

Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 This section of the trail is right next to Washboard Hill, and consists of a small stream and a curving hill. Adam blasts right up it. (I really like the flying leaves as he moves out of frame at the end...) :-) Note: the banging noise is the cement block holding his flag in place jumping around in his bed. |
Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 Same spot; no problem for David Martin. |

Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 There wasn't quite as much traction for Jason Mooberry, but with a bit of fishtailing, he gets up the hill too. |
Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 Slippery Hill. Actually, Slippery Hill is two hills, with a small mud bog in-between them. The wheelspin David gets out of those 33" mudders demonstrates just how slippery this section is. |

Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 Ed McCarrick gives Slippery Hill a go in his brand new Quad Cab, and buries the tach needle past the redline for the first time while doing so. PS: Is it just me, or does the first part of this video look like something out of Jurassic Park? :-) |
Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 Jason Mooberry gets up the hill as well, and in the process, proves that Daks really will respond to a pep talk. :-) |

Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 Now we're on to Mud Lane. Here, Adam comes up the trail to help pull someone out. |
Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 Adam again, on the last stretch of Mud Lane. |

Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 Ed comes off a bypass at the end of Mud Lane. |
Saturday (July 1) - Run 1 Bob Tom pans across the trucks and people as we come back to DML Headquarters after the first trail run, catching a rather amusing exchange between Jason Bleazard and Andy Levy in the process. :-) |

Saturday (July 1) - Run 2 Adam goes splashing through the water at the base of the lower waterfall, and loses a headlight cover in the process. Ed actually waded through the water and found it for him, but it blew off on the ride home so Adam lost it anyway. <Sigh> there's just no helping some people... ;-) |
Saturday (July 1) - Run 2 This is the infamous 4 wheel, vertical burnout. :-) David tries to upstage the Blaster, but only succeeds in making a winch shaped impression in the hill. ;-) |

Saturday (July 1) - Run 2 David's turn to play in the water. I was standing in front of him trying to get a photo and Ed was operating the video camera. As you can tell, it wasn't exactly apparent wether the dak was planning to stop or not, so we beat it out of there. As it turns out, plenty of room to spare. :-) |
Saturday (July 1) - Run 2 David attempts to climb the lower waterfall. |

Saturday (July 1) - Run 2 Once again, David's attempt on the lower waterfall, but from a different vantage point. |
